Biography / Background

I was born in Valparaíso, Chile, in 1978. I received the professional title of Ingeniero Civil Electrónico after working in satellite communications. Particularly, Very Small Apetrure Terminal (VSAT) networks for my undergraduate thesis. I continued with my postgraduate studies (MSc.), working in beamforming for multicarrier (MC) communications. Particularly, multicarrier code division multiple acces (MC-CDMA). In 2006-2007 I became a Lecturer at the Aeronautical Polythecnic Academy, Chilean AIr Force. There, I taught Antennas, Radio Wave Propagation, and Automatic Control. I did my PhD studies at the University of Newcastle, Australia, under the supervision of Dr. Juan C. Agüero, Dr. Boris I. Godoy, and L. Prof. Graham C. Goodwin.

During most of 2013 I held a Research Academic position at the Electronics Engineering Department, UTFSM, as part of the Anillo Research Project, funded by CONICYT. This project dealt with modeling, optimization and control with applications to networked systems using wireless communications. One of the focuses is to combine the approaches and techniques from two main research areas, namely Automatic Control and Communications. In November 2013 I was granted a FONDECYT Postdoctoral fellowship, which founds my 3 year project. This project focuses on the application of System Identification techniques in channel estimation problems for wireless communications.
